Our excursions give you a chance to see more of the local area, giving you the opportunity to learn even more about the surrounding language and culture. The change of scenery is very inspiring as well giving you a great opportunity to meet new people.
The trips are open to both teenage and adult students.
Here are some of the local places we visit:
St Ives is a Cornish coastal town with cobbled streets, quaint cottages and a beautiful harbour. It’s a great example of a traditional coastal town and has the added bonus of a thriving art scene, making visits to the Tate Gallery and the St Ives Museum a must.
During the visit, we will take a walk to enjoy the scenic views and fresh air, the beauty of this town will stay with you long after your visit. During this time, adults are free to join us or to create their own itinerary.
Tate St Ives
Visiting this famous gallery will leave you feeling truly inspired. Not only will you get to witness the world-class exhibitions, you’ll be able to mix with other visitors and practise your new language skills.
The award-winning gallery was opened by HRH Prince Charles in 1993 and has been a home to the St Ives art scene ever since. As well as exhibitions there are special events, games and films throughout the year.
St Ives Museum
St Ives Museum is the best place to learn about the history of the town. Exhibitions focus on industries that have defined the area including fishing, tourism and mining.
The exhibitions are suitable for all ages and there are prizes to be won for completing tasks as you walk around the venue. For an additional fee you can take part in an art workshop with a local expert. A fun and educational day out!
Exeter is the capital of Cornwall’s neighboring county Devon. Being around 2,000 years old and a university city, it has a great mixture of old and new and is buzzing with things to explore.
The Gothic style St Peter’s Cathedral is a must-see, along with a city tour. You can also visit the underground passages that were originally used to bring water into the city.
There’s so much to learn about and do in this intriguing historical city.
Exeter Cathedral is one of the most famous cathedrals in Britain. It is a great example of Gothic history and architecture and is fascinating to visit. Built in the 13th century, the cathedral is rich in cultural importance and surrounded by beautiful green spaces where you can sit and relax.
